N.Z. GEOLOGIST APPOINTED TO POST IN THE UNITED STATES
(P.A.) Christchurch, Feb. 24. Doctor Brian H. Mason, senior lecturer in Geology at Canterbury University College, has been appointed Professor of Mineralogy, University of Indiana. United States. Dr. Mason, who is about 30 years of age, had a brilliant career as a studen‘. at Canterbury University College. He left New Zealand in 1939, and was doing research work in Oslo, Norway, at the lime of the German invasion, and left the city an hour before the Nazis marched in. Dr. Mason wa.> grantee’, a research scholarship by the Government of Sweden and he took up his present appointment at Canterbury College in 1945. Dr. Mason is a son of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Mason, Herne Bay. Auckland.
