REPORTS WANTED, BUT NO STAFFS TO PREPARE THEM
"We haven’t the large staff of Government departments to do this work,” commented the secretary of the Wanganui Education Board, Mr. G. N. Boulton, at yesterday’s meeting, when the board was asked to supply details of its building programme. "If we were to supply all the information asked for we would have to take on a larger staff, and a trained staff at. that," Mr. Boulton added. The department's circular letter asked for the board’s building programme for 1947-48 and also detailed information for the Treasury and the Commissioner of Works—to be supplied to the department in time to enable it to be submitted to the Ministry of Works by March 3. “We received tile letter only on February 14 and have not a chance to compile the information in time," Mr. Boulton pointed outThe Secretaries Institute had sent a telegram asking for a protest against the department's request for information. "As much information as can be sent to the department as possible should be sent," stated Mr. W. H. Brown, who said the information was possibly wanted lor future estimates.
