CHAMPION OF CHAMPION BOWLING SINGLES GROUP FINAL

Marton, Feb. 23 Glorious weather prevailed for the Wanganui Bowling Centre’s group finals in the senior and junior champion of champion singles, played on the Marton green on Saturday, inc day was a triumph for the two Taihape bowlers, McCullough and Buckley, who won both titles, although the latter had a close call in the final against the Marton junior champion, Vv. C. Higginson. he games were played on tne two-life system. 'lhese two Taihape bowlers will represent Rangitikei in the Wanganui Centre’s finals to be decided at Taihape on March 8. The games resulted as follows: SENIOR First Round: McCullough (Taihape) beat R. C. Ball (Marton), 17-15; Ans ley (Hunterville), a bye. Second Round: Bah defeated Ansley, 19-13; McCullough, a bye. Third Round: McCullough defeated Ansley, 24-11; Ball, a bye. Final: McCullough deieated Ball, 20-17, after an interesting game. JUNIOR First Round: W. C. Higginson (Maiton) defeated Buckley (Taihape), 2013; Long (Hunterville), a bye. Second Round: Buckley defeated Long, 28-6; Higginson, a bye. Third Round: Higginson defeated Long, 25-9; Buckley, a bye. This left Higginson with two lives and Buckley with one lite, and in the semi-final Buckley defeated Higginson, 21-16. In the final the same players met again and the game resulted in another win for Buckley over Higginson, the score being 19-12.
