BARRETT’S REEF
Barrett’s Reef is just inside the entrance to Port Nicholson, with Fort Dorset and Sealoun on one side and Pcnca-row Head on the other. At this point the navigable channel is at its narrowest, but there is room for big ships to come and go. The stretch of water between Barrett’s Reef and the hrainland is known as Chaffers Passage, but is user! only by small pleasure boats and is dangerous in any other but. tine weather. After passing Barrett's Reef inward bound ships round Point Dorset, and, before reaching Point Halswell. have Worser Bay and subsequently Karaka Bay on the port beam.
