PRINCE FOX BOUGHT FOR AUSTRALIA
AWAPUNI AUCTION SALE Immediately after the concluding event at the Manawatu Hunt. Club’s meeting at. Awapuni on Saturday four horses were offered at auction by Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., on behalf of Mr. F. H. Mehta, Bombay, the team being sold for a total of just over 6000 guineas. Prince Fox, a two-year-old colt by Foxbridge from Golden Princess, brother to Regal Fox (winner of G.N. Derby and G.N. Guineas), fell to the bid of an agent acting for Mr. Alan Morrisby, Sydney, at 2000 guineas.
Hormuz, a four-year-old gelding by Foxbridge from Rippling Waters, the winner of £3120 in stakes, was bought by Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., as agents, at 1200 guineas. Tagore, a four-year-old gelding by Golden Eagle from Ruling Spi, and half-brother to Sea Spi and Ruling Master, was sold to Mr. A. J. Havill, Palmerston North, at 2100 guineas. Yasda, a three-year-old gelding by Coronach from Lady Phrosa, winner of two races this season, fell to the bid of Mr. M. Millar, Palmerston North, at 900 guineas.
