Ellerton Hall won the Manawatu Hunt Cup al Awapuni, where Blue Chips paid double figures in the President’s Handicap. At Stratford, Northfield scored in rhe steeplechase, and at the Avondale meeting Toronto just beat the Wanganui candidate. Master b'raneis, in the Mount Albert Steeples. Dumbo won the Corbett Memorial Steeples at Matamata and Arabian Night won the South Canterbury Steeples at Washdyke. Casualties during the day include Penwilt at Awapuni and Autoscore at Stratford.
