BIBLE CLASS CONTESTS CONCLUDED
BIG CROWD FOR FINALS The 13th annual inter-Bible Class competitions of the Wanganui Christian Youth Movement were concluded in St. Paul’s Hall on Saturday night, when a large number of people had to be turned away because the hall was tilled to capacity. Yesterday afternoon a combined Bible Class rally was held in St. Paul’s Church, the speaker being the Rev. J. Stewart, chairman of the Youth Movement of the National Council of Churches. Results of the competitions decided on Saturday were:— Pianoforte solo, under 17: Beth Amundsen (Church of Christ) 1. Jacqueline Laws (St. James’) and L. Abernethy (St. Peter’s) 2 equal, Jocelyn Tong (Church of Christ) 4. Bible Class Choir: St. Peter’s 1,
Church of Christ 2, Trinity Methodist 3. Musical Monologue: Lola Coombes (All Saints) 1, Ailsa Wills (All Saints) 2, Marie Gordon (Knox) 3. Impromptu Speech: A. Orchard (JSt. , Peter’s) 1, D. Rennie (St. Paul’s) 2, i Brian Russ (Church of Christ) 3. Congregation Quartette: Mesdames Tipper and Harre, and Messrs. Tipper and Barker (Ingestre Street Baptist) 1, Messrs. A. NoiYnan, J. Bristol, S. Reid, W. Frethey (W.E. Baptist) 2. Hall Managers (Results): St. David’s 1, Church of Christ 2, St. Andrew's and St. Peter’s 3 equal. One act play: St*. Peter’s Bible Class and Church of Christ Bible Class 1 equal, St. Andrew’s 3. The Buxton Banner was won by the congregation of All Saint’s, Wanganui East, with Church of Christ and Wanganui East Baptist second equal.
