DOUBLE COMPANY TAXATION

Mr. Nash said he brought back for consideration by the Land and Inqome Tax Department and later by* the Government, certain tentative. proposals on the. question of double taxation of companies, which he had discussed with the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Dr. Dalton. The basic idea was that companies concerned ought to pay all the taxes they were. (l»c for, but should not have to pay twice. On his way home, said Mr. Nash, he had useful conversations with the

Canadian Government on transpacific air and shipping services. The journey home involved a total of 12,600 miles, which were spanned in 65 flying hours. A feature of the trip was the non-stop flight from Hawaii to Fiji in 14 hours. It is believed to be the first non-stop flight betwean these two points since Kingsford Smith made the same flight in 1934. Mrs. Nash and his private secretary, Mr. D. F. Campbell, were among those who returned with Mr. Nash.
