KING COUNTRY ROAD MOTOR SERVICES

NEW RAILWAY UNDERTAKINGS (0.C.) Ohakune, July 21. The Ohakune Borough Council, and other King Country boroughs, have been advised by the Minister ol Railways that the Railway Department proposes to inaugurate road motor passenger services as follows: (1) Taihape-Palmerston North, (2) Tai-hapo-Taumarunui, (3) TaumarunaiHaimilton. A licence has been granted for the Taihape-Palmerston North section, .and a service over this route will be commenced during July, 1946. Subject to the licence for the Tau-marunui-Hamilton section granted recently by No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority being confirmed on anoenj’ and to the Railway Department’s idplication for a licence for the Tau-marunui-Taihape section being granted, services over these portions of the main-trunk route will be commenced as soon as the necessary vehicles are available. The Minister said it was hoped 1o have the whole route, Palmerston North-Hamilton, fully operated in the course of the next few months, and an Improvement in the travel facilities for intermediate traffic at present provided bycnixed trains with car attached thereby effected.
