Before a crowded house John Katan beat Hank Kaempfer in one of the brightest exnibitions of showmanship and rough-house wrestling seen in Christchurch. In the third round Kaempfer secured a fall with a giant swing ano body press. Katan drew even in the seventh round with a commando hold. Kaempfer was disqualified in the eighth round for panelling.
