CLASH OF DATES
FURTHER DISCUSSION BY FOOTBALL CODES (P.A.) Auckland, July 18. The clash of lhe England-South Island League match and the KiwiCanterbury Rugby game to be played at Christchurch on July 27 was again discussed at a meeting of the New Zealand Rugby League. The president, Mr. J. A, Redwood, read a telegram from the Minister of Defence advising that Mr. S. S. Dean, chairman of the executive committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union, will arrive at Auckland to-morrow and has been asked by the Minister to meet Mr. Redwood in ah effort to reach an arrangement satisfactory to all pmlies. Mr. Redwood expressed satisfaction at the turn of events and said the aid of the Minister had been sought as the League felt an injustice had been done in arranging the date of the Kiwi-Canterbury match. A request for a representative fixture to be played at Wanganui on August 3 was granted. The match between Wellington and Taranaki was allotted. Mr. E. K Asher was appointed manager of the New Zealand team to play the English side and Mr. T. A. McClymont coach.
