In furtherance of the scheme for making domestic help available to farmers’ wives, the National Sendee , Department in Auckland is planning Io hold a conference with t/’ Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, at which it is hoped to set up an organisation to deal with at least the most urgent cases for domestic 1 farm labour. The aim is to provide | help, above all. for expectant, mothers, | sick women and those with large ; families of young children. Wanganui East W.C.T.U, The Wanganui East W.C.T.U. held their monthly meeting in St. Alban’s Hall. Mrs. Ogier led the devotions. The Rev. A. 6. Jones gave a talk on the franchise. Next meeting will he Maori Day and the speaker will be Mr. Mete' Kingi. I Baptist Women’s {Missionary Union. ! Mrs. Flett presided at the annual ! meeting of the B.W.M.U. held recently in the Ingestrc Street schoolI room. There was a large attendance | 01. members present, several being I welcomed who had been absent for ‘ some time through sickness. A short j devotional meeting was followed by . the annual report read by the secrei tary, Mrs. Chesswas. This was a very full and comprehensive report, l mid members realised that much had • been accomplished this year to further it’ne missionary work. The treasurer’s statement was read by Mrs. Belfit, and showed a good increase in flnI ances. McI Lean, Wanganui WANGANUI ARMY RELATIONS There was a large attendance at the monthly meeting of Wanganui Army Relations, held in Christ ; Church Parish Hall yesterday afterj noon. The president, Mrs. T. Rusi sell, presided. Sympathetic reference was made to tiie illness of two members, the secretary (Mrs. E. J. Chesswas) and Mrs. Glengarry, both having to enter hosnital. Wishes were expressed for their speedy recovery. As a mark of sympathy to Mrs. A. H. Collins, whose son was killed in action overseas. members stood in silence. The nresident thanked Mrs.. D. Lilburnc for kindly undertaking the duties of secretary, and also thanked the members who helped with the Victory Loan campaign last week and those | who acted as scrutineers for* he Air Force .Relations annual meeting. ■ Mr. H. C. Jenkins, who gave a very interesting talk on Fiji, the customs I and life of the people of the country, ijwns thanked and accorded hearty ac- ' clanmtion.
