ALLIED AIRMEN

GOEBBELS WRITES OF REPRISALS

London, May 26. Goebbels, in an article in Volklscher Deobachter, declared: "Allied a! men. not content with the 1 haphazard bombing of residential dis-i tricis, have begun openly machine- 1 gunning and murdering civilians. It is, little bonder when people see children murdered in cold blood that they are seized by a raging wrath. It is now possible only ny armed guards, to protect from the fury of the people, airmen who are shot down during such attacks. It is hardly ensurable that German police and soldiers should be used to prevent the German people from dealing with these murderers as they deserve. If this disgusting state of affairs goes on lhe world will sec we hav e ways and means of defending ourselves against these crimes. ,We owe it to our people to see that they arc no. treated as fair game."
