MARTON NOTES

ANZAC DAV ARRANGEMENTS A united service will be held in the Civic Theatre, Marton, on ’Tuesday, April 25, at 2.30 p.m. Prior to the service a short ceremony will take place at the memorial at the Marlon Park at 2.10 p.m. Returned servicemen and women and all war service units ar e requested to parade at the park at 2 p.m. sharp. A cordial invitation is extended to all War Service units to parade at the Marton Park on Anzac Day at 2 p.m. The parade will fall in on the western side of the park at 2 p.m. sharp. Members o£ the R.S.A. will then march to the Memoral Steps for a short ceremony. All other units will remain on paraae on the western ground. At the conclusion of the ceremony at the memorial the R.S.A. will march off, the parade from the western ground joining up en route to the Civic Theatre, where the service will be held at 2.30 p.m. All unit commanders are requested to arrange for wreaths to be deposited at the memorial prior to 2 p.m. TO-NIGHT'S ATTRACTION. Marton Fire Brigade's dance in the Empire Hall at 8 p.m. Special prizes have been secured for the novelty dances. Supper arrangements are oi the best and the floor will be in first cass order. OSBORNE’S SERVICE STORE. An attractive advertisement appears or this page from Osborne’s Service Store (late Morris’), Wellington Road, Marton, in which it is stated that all orders tor groceries will receive every attention and prompt delivery. ST. JOHN AMBULANCE "FLAG 500.” The first of a series of Flag 500 evenings, under tne supervision of Mr. and Mrs. L. Gordon was held in Gould’s Cate on Thursday e Vening, in aid of St. John Ambufance, when a most enjoyable evening was spent. There were 13 tables in play. Those at the wnning table were: Mrs. G. Gibbons, Mrs. K. Price and Mr. and Mrs. G. Henderson. Mystery prizes were won by Mrs. Hull and Mrs. True. Consolation prizes went to Mrs. Hounsell, Mrs. Montgomery, Mrs. F. Thompson, and Mr. S. Watson. Competitions wer e won by Mrs. F. Johnston, Miss J. Baines and Robin Thom. , The committee wish to thank Misses P. and E. Myers, Miss Ferens, ana Mrs. B. Benseman for donations towards the evening.
