ACCLIMATISATION AFFAIRS
MARTON BRANCH HOLDS ITS QUARTERLY MEETING. It was reported at the quarterly meeting of the Marlon branch of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society that trout fishing in the Rangitikei River was yielding poor results. Arising out of the discussion it was resolved that the society be again asked to liberate equal numbers of rainbow and brown trout in the Rangitikei River. Matters pertaining to the coming shooting season were considered and it was decided to ask the council whether there will be an open season and if so that ammunition be distributed by local committees. It was resolved that application be made to have the next annual meeting of the society in Palmerston North. It was considered that such a move would be of great: benefit to members in both city and country. The date for the final committee meeting and annual meeting of the Marlon branch was fixed for April 17. The meeting will be held in Marton.
