ARAMOHO BOATING CLUB
MITCHELL SHIELD RACES A crew stroked by J. Stokes won the Mitchell Shield when the Aramono Boating Club held a series of races last week. In the first round J. Stokes beat L. Clarke by two lengths; and W. Lind beat W. Heath and B. Breed by a length with half a length between second and third boats. In the second round Stokes beat Lind by a length and L. Clarke won from W. Heath and B. Breed by half a length. A canvas separated second and third boats. r The final was between crews stroked by Stokes and Clarke. The boats were level for the first quarter of a mile, but at the school creek Stokes began to draw a vay and at Brunswick Road had th* advantage of a length in the lead. Though Clarke was gaining Stokes maintained his lead and won by three-quarters of a length. The crews were: —J. Stokes (str.), C. Taylor (3), W. Davidson (2), K. Owen (bow), H. Bloor (cox); L. Clarke (str.). .4. Gifford (3). N. Nelson (2), J. Tate (bow), W Baird (cox).
