SEASONAL WORKERS

RELEASE FOR FARM LABOUR ORGANISATION TO DEAL WITH PROBLEM The possibility that the farm labour problem will be eased by the release at. an early date of seasonal workers in freezing works and wool stores and from other sources has suggested the desirability of a central organisation being established in Wanganui to deal with the problem. To this end the district manpower officer is co-operating with the organising secretary of the Primary Pro-duction Council, and between them they will endeavour to place’ experienced farm workers, who may become available, into jobs on the land as soon as their present work is completed. To enable this to be done expeditiously farmers requiring labour are requested to notify the secretary of the Primary Production Council of the number of men they require, the type of work to be carried out, the accommodation to be offered and whether married or single men are quired immediately, and if farmers will respond it is hoped that the difficult position at present being ex- < perienced as a result of shortage of farm labdur will be considerably relieved " *
