REPORTED BY VICHY IN MADAGASCAR London, Sept. 28. According to a Vichy communique French positions in Madagascar art being stubbornly defended. The British had launched several attacks 40 miles south of Antananarivo. Vichy radio says that. Petain sent the following message to the Madagascar people through Governor Annet: “Britain may occupy Madagascar, hut will not overcome the obstacle which holds out against ma-chine-guns—your determined will to remain French.”
