ADJOURNED SINE DIE
APPEAL FOR WtTERSIDERS’ NATIONAL SECRETARY. (P.A.) Christchurch, Sept. 29. An appeal against military service for Tobias Hill, national secretary of the Waterside Workers’ Union, was adjourned sine die by the Armed Forces Appeal Board to-day. The appeal was originally lodged by the Waterfront Control Commission because Hill was then working on the waterfront at Lyttelton. J. Flood, national president of the Union, appeared before the Board and said the appeal should now stand in the name of the Union, which had elected Hill, who is now living at Wellington, as its secretary. Mr. S. L. Wright, a member of the Board, commented that Hill was only 26, but the chairman, Mr. J. S. Barnett, said his medical classification was grade 2.
