YOUNG MAN KILLED

PRIVATELY-OWNED PLANE CRASHES (P.A.) Timaru, Sept. 27. Kenneth Walter Cox, aged 27, was killed this afternoon at Fairhaven when he took up for the first time a single-seater plane which he purchased in Chrisi church a month ago. The machine did not gain much altitude and was flying down a gully above a creek when it crashed. Cox, who was a carpenter by trade and not an experienced pilot, was killed instantly.
