WAIKATO MINERS
RETURN TO WORK TO-DAY
UNEVENTFUL WEEK-END AT HUNTLY
(P.A.) Auckland, Sept. 27. After the announcement of the miners’ ballot result on Friday, affirming the decision of the majority to return to work, the Waikato coalfield has had a normally quiet and uneventful week-end.
The impression everywhere to-day is that the men will return to work to-morrow in conformity with the ballot decision, and that they are not r now much concerned about the de- ' tailed operation of State control of the mines or about the finer points of the original minimum wage dispite. Admittedly, there is a possibility that the Pukemiro men may not follow the decision or accept the jurischo tion of the Disputes Committee. What they elect to do will not be revealed until after they have had an opportunity of meeting at the pithead, but opinion inclines strongly to the view that Pukemiro and all other mines will be found operating as usual tomorrow.
