"NAVY KNIGHTS” SUCCESS One of the best amateur musical revues staged in Wanganui for a number of years, ‘‘Navy Knights" closed its three nights’ season last night. Much favourable comment was passed by the large audience on the whole production, the scenery and elaborate frocking eclipsing that of professional shows. Eddie Martin again demonstrated his versatility in numerous appearances ranging from comic sketches to dramatic items. Among the principal figures in the "Navy Knights” production are Messrs. Ross Tullock, W. H. Ward. F. Riding, A. J. Hodder and Eric Lind and Misses Lydia Fennell, Penrhyn Hutton, Barbara Hood, Cecily Gregor, Betty Bosher, Beverley Le Compte, Doreen Roy. Doreen Oates, and Mrs. Claire Senior-Partridge. All musical accompaniments were supplied by the Savage Club orchestra, under the baton of Mr. H. Sanders, with Miss Tiro Durie at the piano. "Naw Knights” was under the management of the Wanganui Savage (•' üb. with Eddie Martin as producer. The stage manager was Mr. W. Baxter. the musical director Mr. Herbert Sanders, and the house manager Mr. B. R. Dobbs. Others helping to make the production such a success were the stage mechanist, Mr. C. Newton Hood; the publicity man, Mr. R. D. Smart; scenic effects by Messrs. A. G. Waghorne and W. Jackson; property, Messrs. A. J. Pritchard and Syd. Smith, and electric effects, Mr. Arthur Gaskin. „ . Thanking the audience for their appreciation of the revue and their help in raising funds "for the boys, Mr. N. R. Bain, chairman of the Wanganui Patriotic Committee, also expressed thanks to all concerned in the production of “Navy Knights.” The producer, Mr. Eddie Martin, and the cast had put in weeks of hard work to make the show the success it had been and they deserved the highest praise He also thanked those who had worked so hard behind the scenes. Mr. Martin expressed his gratitude to the performers for their untiring efforts at rehearsals, for which they had given up all other pleasures. The audience was particularly enthusiastic last night and the performance ended on a gala note with the presentation of bouquets and boxes 0.. chocolates to the artists. s . ■ ■ —sag
