PAST SEASON REVIEWED

ARAMOHO BOATING CLUB i The good results achieved by the Aramoho Boating Club last season, in spite of unfavourable conditions i brought about by the war, were re- ; ferret to by the president, Mr. F. ■ Haywood, at the annual meeting. He . congratulated the club on its souna i financial position and on the prestige ! it had attained as a sporting body. ; He also commented on the value of the sport in the formation of char- . acter, and traced the history ot tne club since its inception 44 years ago. The annual report stated that the . beginning of the 1941-42 season found i the club facing many difficulties as a result of the war. Members rallied to the occasion and a spirit of enl thusiasm enabled the club to complete . a successful season. [ “Membership of the club over the ■ past season stood at 24, four of whom were active life members,” the report ; added. “As the membership during L the coming season must necessarily . suffer, it is hoped that many of the older members, in spite ot heavy calls > on their time, will rally to the club’s . assistance and take an active part in . its affairs.” Receipts showed a considerable de- . crease on those of the previous season, . and had it not been for several small ■ competitions held during the year, a [ loss on the season’s workings would . have resulted. After £25 had been transferred to the rebuilding fund, a balance of £72 remained in the general account. The report stressed that ; though the position could be regarded as satisfactory members must realise that the coming season would prove difficult. The rebuilding fund stood at £738. A National Savings account was opened and £250 transferred from this fund. In view of members being active on war service, entries received for club races were very satisfactory. All trophies were contested and some very keen racing resulted. Because of travelling restrictions and other difficulties the club was not able to be represented at any regattas during the season. While this was regretted, no other course was open to the club. Members accepted the curtailment of their activities in good spirit. Officers elected were: Patron, Mr. L. E.
