COMPANY AFFAIRS.
AUSTRALIAN DUNLOP PROFITS. Dunlop Rubber (Aust.), Ltd., made a profit for the year to June 30 of £381.444. This compares with profit of £427,745 in the previous year, and with £439,598 (a record) in 1939-40. The directors declined to recommend payment of 5 per cent, on cumulative preference shares for the year and 2i per cent, on ordinary shares, making 5 per cent, for the year. Ordinary distribution in the previous four years was 7 per cent. Preference and ordinary dividends for the 12 months will absorb £281,282. SOUTH BRITISH DIVIDEND. The directors of the South British Insurance Co., Ltd., have announced that they will recommend for the approval of shareholders the payment of a final dividend of Is, plus a bonus of 3d a share, payable on October 22. The total payment for the year is 2s. ELDER DEMPSTER PROFITS. The accounts of Elder Dempster Lines, Limited, show a profit of £205,122 for 1941. The amount brought in is £255,598, £75,000 is transferred to reserve, the interim dividend of 4 per cent, absorbed £50,000, and a final ’ dividend of 6 per cent, is now recomj mended, needing £75,000 and leaving £260,720 to be carried forward.
