May 21. j Appearing for sentence before Mr. i Justice Fair in the Auckland Supreme j Court for having made a false declaration respecting a marriage certificate. Norman Rupert Cottle, aged i 26. was sentenced to nine months’ ■ hard labour. The Judge said prisoner had a good secondary school educa-I >f tion. but since 1933 had been con-' t victed 17 times. He had also an-1 i) sconded from a military camp. He s had married a girl aged 18. If the j young woman could not get a divorce s it would be more serious for her than 1 a if she could. j ’ I 1
