DRIVE FOR MORE WHEAT

MEETING IN RANGITIKEI (0.C.) Marton. May 15. The intensive drive for the production of more wheat in the Rangitikei listrict, and associate problems, attracted a representative gathering of ‘armors at a ipeeting held in Marton his afternoon. - Mr. G. L. Marshall, •hairman of the Rangitikei Primary Production Council, presided. Mr. .Marshall reported that he had ocen asked to see if it were possible or a wheat-grower to obtain the services of a man in camp to assist with production. In some cases this conjession had been granted, and in icveral instances permission had been ibtained for mon to be released from ramp for the duration of the harvest. Fhe arrangement had proved very atisfactory. Mr. R. J. Moore said some armors considered that lewt. of ferilisers was not sufficient for wheat and and did not intend to grow cheat. It was necessary to have 2 wt. for wheat. Mr. A. S. Coleman replied that the lepartmont could not supply more han lewt. per acre for wheat growing, due to the acute shortage. The chairman said the price for cheat would be considered at the icxt meeting of the Wheat Comm.tee. Ho also mentioned that h'* had pent the whole of that morning •ringing in wheat which had born ut at the end of January. It was ot damaged sufficiently to make it nmarketable.
