EMERGENCY TRIAL AT MABTON JUNCTION An emergency trial at the Marton Junction railway station was successfully carried oui by the E.P.S. organisation on Wednesday morning. An alarm was given at 10.3 a.m. and the whole of the proceedings were carried out in an efficient manner by the Junction unit under the cnarge of Mr. J. While, stationmaster. Several lires were dealt with during the course of the demonstration and ambulance cases were efficiently handled by members of St. John Ambulance and the railway staff. The test should prove of inestimable value to the organisation, the members attending in strong force. Representatives of the E.P.S. organisation in Marton were present and subsequently discussed questions of organisation and general policy matters in order to obtain lull co-ordination between the railway unit and headquarters. /MARTON BOY SCOUTS During the school holidays the Scout parades are being held as usual. On Tuesday night tne Marton troop was visited by tne scoutmaster oi tne recently formed Sanson troop and his assistant scoutmaster, in response to the Home Guard’s appeal for pm and treacle tins the Marton Scouts are this week holding a drive through the town for this purpose. Money collected from this source will be used to supplement the troop funds, which at tne moment are at a very low level. Marton residents are asked to co-operate with the Scouts in their effort. Fenwickc, Misses D. Awdry, 11. Bayley and B. Purnell. These displays were thoroughly enjoyed. The Maori girls practised artificial respiration under the supervision of the teams. Tea was next, on the programme and the Red Cross was delighted to entertain a party of visitors from Rat ana, whose interest in the proceedings had led them to Ihe Training Centre. The senior girls from the school gracefully returned thanks for the afternoon’s instruction and entertainment and in return the school gave some very attractive and much appreciated action songs.
