W ANG A EH I SI B-CENTKE There was a good attendance of members at the May meeting of the Wangaehu Sub-centre of the Red Cross Society. Mrs. Craig, president, was in the chair. Those present were Mesdames Anderson, Chapman. Craig, Cracroft, Fitchet, Grant, Healey. Holmes, Honeyman, Humphreys. Liggins, Mackintosh. Mercer, Olsen. Peffers, and Misses Baker. A. and D Castles, Honeyman and Mackenzie. A cheque for £lO was handed in and gratefully acknowledged. It was with pleasure that the sum of 12s 3d received from the chil-
dren and teachers of the local school towards local soldiers’ parcels, being proceeds from the sale of ergot which they had gathered. A vote of thanks was passed to them. The newly-appointed conveners of r the sewing and knitting were busy ? giving out material to be made up 1 into articles for the sick and , wounded. t The "bring and buy” stall, in charge . of Mrs. Cracroft and Miss Castles. . did brisk business, the sum of 23s 6d - being realis'd. , A competition in the mottoes which had been brought to the monthly - meetings resulted in a tie between Mesdames Anderson and Honeyman, i the former drawing for first place. A dainty afternoon tea, kindly proi vided by the president, was served by - Mesdames Grant and Mercer
