He was born in Wanganui and spent most of his working life as a Government surveyor. His f descendants include eight great- ; grandchildren. ’ The death has occurred of Mr. ' James Nimmo Baxter, aged 75, of 1 Wilding Avenue, Epsom. Born al Coromandel, Mr. Baxter spent most of his life in Auckland. He was employed as a commercial traveller by Macky, - Logan, Caldwell, Limited, and later by I Hancock and Co., Ltd. J A well-known Auckland sportsman, 1 Mr. G. A. Wynyard, has died at the • age of 63. He joined the Liverpool, - London and Globe Insurance Company and ultimately became manager. In 4 916 he joined the Royal Exchange . Assurance Corporation, and remained ■ in its service until his death. ; The death has occurred in Invercargill after a prolonged illness of Mr. Herbert F. Drewe, a prominent business man with long service on many public bodies, particularly the Chamber of Commerce, Harbour Board and Southland League. He was born in 3 Liverpool 71 years ago and came to ; New Zealand in 1888. Mr. J. N. Millard. Wellington, was i lhe only person nominated for the ; office of president of lhe New Zeai land Rugby Union for 1942. He will i hold office for the next twelve months. Mr. Millard has been closely connected with the game of Rugby since 1916, when he was lirsl elected to a seat on the management committee of the Wellington union. Mr. D. Kelly, who has been on the staff of the Taihape District. High School for 16 years, has been appointed headmaster of the Manunui School. Recently Mr. and Mrs. Kelly were I’arewelled by members of the school committee, the stall' and school children, when tne opportunity was taken by each section of presenting Mr. Kelly with a suitable memento. The death has occurred of Mr. William Robson, Lyall Bay, Wellington, aged 82. Mr. Robson came to New Zealand as a young man, and entered the service oi the Bank of New Zealand in Auckland in February, 1887. In June, 1907, he was appointed manager at. Gore. In January, 1916, he was appointed manager at Invercargill and in June. 1920, sub-inspector at head office. He retired in December. 1924. Mr. Charles Barnett Lockett, whose ' death occurred in the Thames Hospital last week, was well-known in Wanganui. Born at Nelson in 1868 he was the son of the late Major Lockett, who was well known in connection with military matters in the early days ol this country. Mr. Lockett joined the Public Works Department as a young man and carried out much of the roaa survey work through Hunterville. Wanganui, Taumarunui, and Taihape districts. He was transferred to Thames in 1919. and retired on superannuation in 1931. He is survived by his wife and two sons. lan. manager of the Hauturu station at Tokomaru Bay. and Bryan, who is a prisoner of war in Germany.
