WIN FOR TRAFFIC BRANCH CANDIDATE TOTAL OF £304 RAISED FOR BRITISH G.P.O. FUND Scenes of enthusiasm marked the conclusion of the Wanganui district Post and Telegraph quen carnival last night, and sustained applause greeted the announcement that the effort in aid of the British G.P.O. relict tund had resulted in more than £3OO being raised.

The winner was the Traffic Branch Queen, Miss D. H. Brown, whose committee secured for her 35,3.00 penny votes, representing a sum "of £147 Is Bd. The Money Order Branch Queen. Miss Ansley, was represented by 19.825 votes, being credited with a total of £B3 12s Id. Close behind was the Clerical Branch Queen, Miss Joan Franklin, with 18,030 votes, representing £75 2s 6d. The total votes cast, 73.155, represented £304 16s 3d, exceeding the objective of £3OO by nearly £5, with still six weeks to go for the salary deductions for the remainder of the three months yet to be added. During the evening, at the Savage Club Hall, where a social evening was held, congratulatory telegrams were received from the Postmaster-General, the Hon. p. C. Webb, and the Direc-tor-General. Mr. J. G. Young. At the conclusion. Sergeant J. B. Cotterili. M.P. for Wanganui, who had just arrived from Wellington, added hicongratulations on the splendid effort for which the respective committee.-: [were responsible.
