RANGATAUA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

INSTRUCTIVE DEMONSTRATIONS The monthly meeting of the Rangataua Women’s Institute was held in the Town Hall, Mrs. Slater presiding over a .good attendance of members. After Opening the meeting, members stood in silence as a token of respect to the. late Mrs. Ellis, who, after a short period of illness, has passed on. “Peace, Perfect Peace' was played very softly. Mrs. Ellis was a staunch supporter of the institute and a great worker for patriotic and refugee efforts, also for lhe local boys, and her willing help will be very much missed from the institute. The motto was given by Mrs. Guscqtt and the roll call, “Say a tonguetwister twice,” was very amusing. The competition, baby's knitted or crocheted headgear, resultde as follows: Mrs. Thodsen 1, Mrs. R. Mills 2, Mesdames Stretton, Morgan, senr., and Ridealgh 3. The demonstration, darning over net, and re-footing stoek-

ings for wartime, was given by Mrs. W. Fraser and will, no doubt, be used by many members. The item for the afternoon was given by the “young girls,” this being the comic song, “I'm Gonna Bring a Wate) melon to My Girl To-night.’’ After partaking of a very enjoyable afternoon tea, hostessed by Mesdames R. Mills and Hall, the afternoon closed with the 'Ode to Friendship.”
