ACTIVE ROYAL AIR FORCE

HANOVER BOMBED EIGHT ENEMY VESSELS TOTAL 48,000 TONS London, July 20. Hanover was bombed by the Royal Air Force last night and many fires started. Eight enemy vessels, off the German coast., were attacked ail'd probably sunk. They totalled to about 48,000 tons. One 10,000-ton tanker was hit six times. Four direct hits were obtained on a ship of 6000 tons. One ship ol about 8000 and another of 2000 tons were hit and left burning. None of our planes are missing from that operation, but three fighters and two bombers are missing from an earlier raid. The increasing attacks of the Royal Air Force on Germany were mentioned by Lord Halifax, British Ambassador to the United States, at the Richmond shipyards. He said that Hitler, in the next six months, will know more about bombing than he has ever known.
