TAIHAPE NOTES
VARIETY CONCERT A variety concert will be held in the Town Hall, Taihape, next Wednesday, in aid of the funds of the Town Queen candidate in the Patriotic Carnival. The programme will include sketches, dancing, musical and vocal items. The Dramatic Club, Taihape District High School (secondary department) will contribute one of the sketches. Dancing items will bee given by Mrs. Gordon’s pupils. The musical numbers will include stringed trio, piano-accordion, quartette and solos. Popular patriotic songs will be rendered and a table entitled “Rule Britannia” will be presented. The programme has been arranged to suit all tastes and patrons can look forward to an evening of bright entertainment. Particulars will be advertised. TOWN QUEEN INDOOR RACES The final indoor race meeting in aid of the Town Queen has been arranged for next Thursday, in the Town Hall. Prizes worth at least one guinea will be awarded to the owners of the winning horses. A great deal of skill is now required in the handling of horses. Preparations are in hand to make next Thursday’s meeting one of the best ever. Particulars will be adver*’-- ■
