SHIPS FIRE AT POINT-BLANK RANGE HAVOC CAUSED IN HARBOUR AND TOWN London. May 12. An Admiralty communique advises that a naval bombardment of Benghazi was carried out by light naval units on Saturday, severe damage being caused without casualties or damage to any of the British forces. The shelling was carried out at pointblank range. 1 The R.A.F. co-operated and also wreaked havoc in the town. Benina [and Derna aerodromes were also raided, Junkers planes and other i machines being damaged. At Tobruk the British land forces 'carried out raids with mechanised units and inflicted casualties and captured many prisoners. In the Solium area, harassing movements continued to be carried out.
