Y.W.C.A. BUSINESS GIRLS’ LYCEUM

ENJOYABLE EVENING The regular meeting of the Business Girls’ Lyceum was held in the club room at the Y.W.C.A. on Monday, May 12. The meeting opened with business, minutes and vespers, after which members of the "Behind the Headlines" group- Misses M. Reardon, I. Raynor and B. Harris—i presented summarised reports of the policy of various countries as they affected the international situation— Germany. Japan, and American respectively. The speaker for the evening’s pro- . gramme was Mr. Lance Craig, well known in musical circles in Wanganui, i Mr. Craig, who was assisted by Miss Gamman at the piano, gave a most interesting address on "Anpreciation of Muisc and Singing," with an outline of the fundamentals of voice production, and rendered a most delightful group of songs by English artists. Selected recordings were also played to enable the club to comprehend the essential qualities in true voice production. On behalf of the club, Miss Christian Alexander proposed a warm vote of thanks and apprecialion to the performers, which was carried by acclamation. The serving of supper brought the evening to a close.
