Calloway, Christchurch ahs been visiting Hawera and is now the guest of Mrs. N. Fulton, St. John's Hill. Miss E. Hickford, Maxwell, is the guest of her mother, Mrs. Hickford, Waverley. Mrs. J. Campbell and Miss M. Campbell, Onehunga, are guests of Mrs. J. Graham, Pitt Street. Mrs. P. L. Phillips has returned to New Plymouth after a visit to Wan-1 ganui. » * * * Miss Denniston, Wanganui, is the guest of Mrs. E. N. S. D’Arcy, Hamilton. Miss I. Jarman is a Feilding visitor to Wanganui.

Mrs. Frank Pearce, of Christchurch, is staying in Wanganui.

Mrs. S. Hanton and Miss Jean McGregor. Waverley, were recent visitors to Wellington.

The late Mrs. Elizabeth Astbury, who died on Saturday, was a foundation member of the Gonville Croquet Club. At a committee meeting on Monday, sympathy was expressed with her relatives. A sheaf of flowers tied with a ribbon of red and white was sent with a message from the members of the efub.

Miss M. F. Barnett, matron of the" Masterton Hospital, has received notice ot her appointment to’ a war position in the nursing division of the Health Department dealing with sick and wounded soldiers. Miss Barnett has resigned her position as matron.
