ALLOWANCE WANTED ENGLISH EXAMPLE CITED [ Per i'rws Aiaociatlon I DUNEDIN, Aug, 14. A meeting of the Automobile Association (Otago) decided to place before the South Island Motor Union a recommendation to make representations to have the petrol regulations relaxed so that members of the forces on final leave could obtain on application a petrol allowance for special needs. The secretary said he had been approached by men on leave to obtain petrol for them to visit relatives in the country, but on application to the Oil Fuel Controller, Mr. G. L. Laurenson, were unsuccessful. The secretary added that troops in England were allowed petrol for 300 miles, in addition to their coupons.
