BLOCKADE OF SHANGHAI

WARNING IN JAPANESE ARMY NEWSPAPER Received Aug. 14, 9.35 p.m. SHANGHAI, Aug. 13. The Japanese Army publication, Shinshunpao, in an editorial, warned the foreign defence commanders that the Japanese Army would categorically take over the British sectors regardless of Mr. Peck’s proposal. It said: “If the American scheme is enforced we hope the Japanese army will blockade Shanghai similar to Tientsin—then we will see what the United States marines can do about that.”
