BLIND FOR GESTAPO
TRAVEL AGENCY IN AMERICA EX-GERMAN CONSUL’S ALLEGATION (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) Received Aug. 14, 6.5 p.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 13. The United States Attorney’s office is investigating an allegation by Dr. Schwarz, ex-German Consul in New York, who was ousted by Hitler, and is now an American citizen, that a German firm, described as a travel foreign exchange bureau, is in reality the headquarters of the Gestapo in the United States. The firm's offices, on a floor beneath the German Consulate, were the scene of a bomb explosion on June 20. The company is conducted by von Wimmersperg, the wearer of many German decorations, and who lives expensively, and Ernest Kopf, who was described by a German witness during the investigation of un-Ameri-can activities in 1934 as the chief agent of the Nazis in America.
A G-man described Dr. Schwarz’s charges as lucid, but lurid.
