FAT STOCK SELL WELL

WANGANUI STOCK SALE F. R. JACKSON AND COY’S REPORT Reporting on the Wanganui stock sale yesterday, Freeman R. Jackson and Co., Ltd., state that there was an excellent sale for all classes of fat stock. Fat ewes brought, more than 40s a head and fat cows, prime and good, brought £ll, the highest figures to date this winter. Oddments of store sheep sold freely. More than 550 store cattle were yarded and buyers hardly showed the same keenness as at recent sales. The auctioneers report, however, a gcod clearance at prices quite satisfactory to vendors. Dairy cattle again sold freely at late rates. There was another good sale for pigs. Range of prices:— Sheep.—Fat 2-tooth wethers, 36s 6d to 37s 6d; fat maiden ewes, 365; prime heavy ewes, 35s 6d to 40s 6d; fat, 31s to 33s 6d; light, 20s to 275; prime hoggets, 27s to 295. 6d; fat, 24s to 265; medium ewe hoggets, 25s 6d; m.a. breeding ewes, 28s, 30s to 325. Cattle.—Prime P.A. and R.P. cows, £9 17s 6d to £11; fat, £6 17s 6d to £8 15s; fat ex-dairy cows (light), £5 to £7 ss; prime to £9; good springing dairy cows (close up), £lO to £l4 10s; September calvers, £9 to £11; aged and backward, £4 10s to £7; good forward Jersey heifers, £lO to £l3 10s, September calvers, £7 10s to £S 10s, backward, poor and hard done, £4 15s to £6 10s; forward S.H. bullocks, £lO 15s; P.A. bullocks, £9 10s; S.H. and Hereford steers, £6 5s to £8; 2-year P.A. heifers, £5 12s 6d; P.A. cows, £4 15s; P.A. yearling steers, £4 Ils; ditto, heifers, £3 15s; ditto, Hereford, £3 15s; 2-year empty Jersey heifers, £5 3s to £5 19s; store Jersey cows, £2 10s to £4, Jersey cows and calves, £3 to £4 15s. Pigs.—Light baconers, £3 2s 6d to £3 9s; heavy porkers, £2 11s to £2 15s, light porkers, 33s to 355; small stores, 32s to 355; good slips, 28s to 32s 6d; average, 25s to 275; eaners, 24s to 265; small, 17s to 22s 6d; sows to farrow, £2 15s. to £4 10s.
