FRONTIERS OF SYRIA
CLOSED BY VICHY an BRITISH UNABLE TO LEAVE (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) Received Aug. 12, 6.5 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 11. The Sunday Times says that the Vichy Government has ordered Syria to close the frontiers to all subjects of military age of the combatant countries, and also to refuse exit permits to British residents. The decision means the breaking of the link between Turkey and Palestine and exclusion of British people from the Taurus express where the railway enters Syria.
