THE INVASION OF ENGLAND
invasion of England has definitely commenced. The Germans hope, in the first stage, by the use of motor-boats armed with torpedo tubes, to make successful attacks upon convoyed shipping, while mass aeroplane attacks carry further the damage to shipping and to docks, and harbours and communications generally. This is the first stage of the invasion operations. It will depend upon the degree of success achieved by these first-stage tactics, as to what form the second stage of the attack will take! The magnetic mine has already been countered successfully, and it is probable that a counter will be provided for the motor-boat torpedo craft, but should any avenue of success remain open it will assuredly be exploited by the Germans. On balance, the enemy’s air activities must be regarded as failures, seeing that they lose about twice as many aeroplanes than their opponents. i
