WAVERLEY DOG TRIALS CLUB
A meeting of the club was held in the secretary’s office on Tuesday evening, Mr. W. H. Watkins, president, being in the chair. Messrs. R. W. H. Oliver, C. J. Brown, and R. S. Aiken sent apologies for their unavoidable absence.
The secretary presented a statement of receipts and expenditure for the recent trials which showed a satisfactory position, there being 136 dog competitors this year as compared with 96 last year, and the president in his remarks, stated that the club was in a healthy position so far as competitors were concerned, and the thanks of the club were due to many supporters who had given donations and trophies for the trials. It was unanimously decided to send the Government a cheque for £5O, being the club’s reserve fund, same to be as a loan to the War Expenses Account, free of interest, for the period of the war and six months thereafter.
The secretary was instructed to write and thank the undermentioned for their help during the year to the club —Mr. E. C. Dallison, Mr. W. P. Wallace, Bromiley’s. Ltd., 11. L. Thomas, Mr. C. J. Brown, and Mr. L. J. Beer for trophies, Mr. W. C. Simson for use of the grounds, Mr. Guy L. Campbell for use of lorries, and the undermentioned for donations to the prize funds —The Wanganui Aerated Water and Ice Cream Co., Mr. P. Forrester, Levin and Co., Messrs. Geo. Stewart, H. Entwhisle, Cunningham Bros., D. C. Jarvis, and A. A. Thompson. The president then called for suggestions from members for the improvement of the trials and several helpful ideas were brought forward and are to be noted for consideration at. the next annual general meeting of the club.
