GIFT EVENING AT MANGAWEKA
On Friday last the many friends of Miss Rita Oulsnam gathered in the Oddfellows’ Hall at Mangaweka to make her a presentation and tender their good wishes on her approaching marriage. The evening was spent in dancing, music being supplied by Messrs. D. George and D. Marsh. Extras were played by Mrs. Pat Potaka. After a delightful supper Mr. A. Millner in a few well-chosen words wished the young couple every happiness and asked tiyem to accept a handsome brass firescreen with curb to match, also a brass wood box. Mr. Sherlock, president of the Tennis Club, also spoke of the sterling qualities of Miss Oulsnam in the Tennis Club as ladies’ captain and asked her to accept the good wishes of the members together with a small token of their esteem—a water, set. Mr. Neville Gower replied on behalf of Miss Oulsnam. Everyone joined in the singing ‘For They Are Jolly Good Fellows” and dancing was continued.
