Behind the Times.
Central Otago possesses a genius . ’ born after instead of before his generation. Evidence of his existence 1 came to hand when a Dunedin sports dealer received a letter informing him , that a revolutionary new racket press , had been invented and would he care ; to place an order for. say, naif a ( gross? No plans or specifications were included as the canny inventor had ; not yet registered his patent. The ( dealer also had a cautious side to nis j nature, and asked that before he s
' committed himself he would like lo have some idea of the principle involved in the making of the press. A reply that there was only one screw to tighten instead of four provoked the dealer to write once more, this time enclosing a sketch of a type of press that has been sold in Dunedin for the past 15 years. It drew an indignant answer by return mail complaining that lhe writer's idea had been filched. News of the invention of a revolutionary new trouser press is now expectantly awaited from the same quarter.
