FATALITY AT MILL

MAN KILLED BY lEI < K ( I’er Press Association.) WESTPORT, July 18. James Duncan, aged about 45 year, with .so far as is known no relatives in New Zealand, was killed to-day at the Gorge Mill, near White Cliffs, when a steel wire rope fastened to a truck of limber Duncan and a mate' were pushing along the rails got jammed on the drum of a light steam winch. The steel rope lifted high in the air and when it descended allowed the truck to run back on the rails and Duncan, who was caught between the rails and the sleepers, had his neck broken. His mate. Cyril Kerr, a young married man received injuries which are not believed to be serious.
