FORCES IN CHINA THANKED P A RLI AMENT’S RE SO LVE. Received Dec. 28, 8.40 p.m. TOKIO, Dec. 28. The Diet, before adjourning for the New Year recess, passed a vote of thanks to the forces operating in China. Both Houses also adopted Addresses from the Throne, and in reply to the Emperor’s speech they recorded a grim determination to attain “the ultimate objective of a punitive expedition against China.”

The Chinese are busily preparing an ambitious counter offensive which will be launched in a month or two. According to official quarters it is claimed that the morale of the troops has been restored by the arrival of reinforcements and new equipment at the \arions fronts.
