SECOND TURBINE COMPLETED IN OPERATION NEXT MONTH HAMILTON, Dec. 21. The second of the two turbine and generator units which have been under construction at the Arapuni powerhouse during the pts two years is practically completed, and should be available for service after tests next month. With the installation of this unit the potential output of the station will be increased by 24,000 k.w. to about 100,000 k.w., provided by six turbine and generator units. The newly-con-structed machines are housed in an extension to the original powerhouse and, apart from minor tasks, the work on the new pait of the building is also completed. The two additional installations provided the department with a lengthy undertaking, on which there were al one time 300 men engaged. There are now, however, only about 50 men engaged in putting the finishing touches to the work.
