STATE HOUSING SCHEME
FURTHER TENDERS ACCEPTED [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Nov. 18. Tenders have been accepted for 56 new houses and the land has been bought for the building of 85 more throughout the Dominion under the Government housing scheme, according to an announcement made to-day by Mr. J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Under-Secretary in Charge of Housing. Of these totals tenders for nine additional houses have been accepted in Lower Hutt and the land purchased for the erection of 27 more in Pukekohe. Land has been purchased for 17 houses in Napier and tenders for the erection of 17 houses have been accepted. Similar tenders have been accepted for eight in Gisborne, 10 at Oamaru, and 13 in New Plymouth, while in Eltham land has been purchased for the erection of 15 houses, 18 at Waimate, and eight at Gore.
