SPECTACULAR REVUE
THE MONTAGUE SHOW The Bertram Montague Revue Company is to commence a season at the Majestic Theatre to-morrow night. The company, which has been brought to New Zealand by Sir Benjamin Fuller, is assured or a successful tour, following the remarkable popularity of the Marcus Show, which also was imported by Fuller's Theatres, Limited. The first presentation by the Montague Show will be the spectacular production “Let's Go Places.” Supervised by Mr Lewis Marks, the original producer in England, “Let’s Go Places” will be staged exactly as in the West End, where it I enjoyed outstanding success. The set- ! ting of the now show is on a large ocean-going liner, and includes many unusual and spectacular scenes, created with a lavishness of detail 1 rarely found in the Dominion. The original London cast, headed by George Doonan, popular English comedian, and Miss Catherine Stewart, who was a favourite with musical comedy lovers in New Zealand a few years ago, has been supplemented by a number of interpolated acts, notably those of the Dawn Sisters and the Blenders. In “Let’s Go Places” the whole action takes place on board an ocean liners on a world holiday cruise, or at the cities or ports where the boat calls. The passengers consist of a galaxy of shapely females and clever comedians, so that fun and frivolity reigns supreme. George Doonan, from London, is comedian in chief, and Barbara Vernon, famous American actress is the principal song and dance artist. The company has just completed a successful tour of South Africa, where the beautiful ostrich feathers used by the Darmora ballet in their numbers was a special subject of favourable comment. The Darmora ballet of 12 beautiful Hungarian girls is under the direction of Madame Darmora. None of the gins in the ballet is younger than 16, while the eldest is 19. One of these talented dancers, 17-year-old Ellaline Szekeresz, is the daughter of a Russian princess, while another is Rosita Rona, winner of the women’s 100 metres race at the Berlin Olympiad.
